Ensures City compliance with state and federal programs as required under the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The City of Golden does not have a treatment plant to treat wastewater from the city. Instead, we have an agreement with Coors that allows Golden to send our domestic sewage to Coors for treatment at their general wastewater treatment plant. In exchange, Golden provides Coors with excess water rights or pays for treatment. In addition to the general wastewater treatment plant, Coors has a process water treatment plant to treat wastewater from the brewery. Both of these wastewater treatment plants are visible from 44th Avenue and Hwy 58. Coors has established a hotline for calls regarding odors from these plants. This number is 303-277-2112.
