APR 15: BIKE TOUR OF HISTORIC & PRE-HISTORIC GOLDEN Wednesday, April 15th FUN/INT- H2-15-SW 9:30 AM .Meet Steve Stevens (720-497-1100) at Golden Oldy Cyclery, 17224 West 17th Place, Golden, CO 80402 for "The Historic and Pre-historic Tour of Golden". This is a 15 mile ride around Golden (climbing as high as Heritage Square) with short stops to see the historic places in the first Capitol of the Territory of Colorado (1862-67). Mostly on paved trails but about 1/4 mile on gravel (can be walked if desired). The Museum will be open after the ride. Please come early to be ready to ride at 9:30 a.m.
APR 18: BIKE TOUR ON CLEAR CREEK TRAIL Saturday April 18th ... Clear Creek Trail from Golden Oldy Cyclery to the Platt and Back ...about 40 miles very flat. Leaves at 9:30. Steve Stevens (720-497-1100). All rides require helmets based upon DBTC rules. These are not fast rides ... but relatively steady rides. The Museum of Cycling and Sustainability will be open after each of the rides for the riders.
APR 25: FRONT RANGE BIKE TOUR Saturday April 25th ... Up the front range ... and down Kerr Creek Canyon (Beautiful Glide from Evergreen Parkway to Morrison... then back past Red Rocks to Golden. A lot of climbing. About 35 miles. Leaves Golden Oldy Cyclery at 9:30 AM. Steve Stevens (720-497-1100). All rides require helmets based upon DBTC rules. APR 29: “BILL & BUFFALOS” BIKE TOUR Wednesday, April 29th FUN/INT-H3-21-SW- 9:00 AM Meet Steve Stevens (720-497-1100) at Golden Oldy Cyclery, 17224 West 17th Place, Golden, CO 80402 A trip to see Bill and the Buffalos This is a 21 mile ride with half going very up and half very down.
MAY 2: LARIAT LOOP BIKE TOUR May 2 - Ride the Lariot Loop ... 40 miles lots of up and down
MAY 13: RED ROCKS BIKE TOUR Steve Stevens will lead a ride Wednesday May 13th: * Leave Golden Oldy Cyclery 8:30 AM to Dinosaur Ridge. Then over the ridge and up into Redrocks to the Amphatheater. Return to Golden through Heritage Square. Ride is about 20 miles and 1300 ft gain. Pace gentle but steady. Will regroup as needed. MAY 23: BIKE TOUR OF SUSTAINABLE HOUSING "Le Tour du Logement Durable" or in English: "The Tour of Sustainable Housing" .... A 27 mile ride with less than 500 ft vertical climb (relatively flat) starting at 8:30 AM from Golden Oldy Cyclery - "The Sustainable Museum of Sustainable Transportation" - and riding to the 1982 SERI (NREL) designed "Avenson home" ( http://www.avenson.net/ ) in Westminster, CO. We will tour the Computer Controlled Passive Solar home for about 45 minutes before riding back to Golden. Golden Oldy Cyclery ( http://www.goldenoldy.org/ ... also Beyond Carbon Free) will be open at the conclusion of the ride for education about both 1) Bicycle History and 2) Converting existing housing to be Carbon Free. Helmets are required for All Golden Oldy / DBTC rides. MAY 25: BIKE TOUR – PROSPECT PARK Prospect Park - through Arvada and Golden - Loop ... 10:00 Start at Prospect Park on the Clear Creek Trail and returning for the DBTC Picnic - 26 miles, rolling terrain. MAY 27: BIKE TOUR – GENESEE -- Canceled Leave Golden Oldy Cyclery at 8:30 and Climb Lookout (Lariat Loop) to Genesee. Look for the Buffalos. Then climb to Genesee Peak in Genesee Park. Return on US 40 Frontage. 26 miles. 2200 ft gain. MAY 31: BIKE TOUR – “AN ASSAULT ON EVANS” -- Canceled "An Assault on Evans" Riders have 2 Options for the Start: Option A) From Bergen Park - Park & Ride to the top of Mt Evans (if upper roadway is open) and back, departing at 8:30 AM at the Park &Ride ... 68 miles round trip (Less if upper Mt Evans road is not open). Option B) Folks who want to start with me from Golden Oldy Cyclery at 6:30 AM may do so ... it will then be a Century (100 mile) ride.... round trip with 10,000 ft vertical gain if the Mt Evans road is open. The Museum will be Open After the Ride. This is a very long ride. Riders should be very fit, even if slow... Pace will be slow to medium but steady. Helmets are required on all Golden Oldy / DBTC rides.
