As November and Election Day approaches, Goldenites have once again rallied to provide a variety of candidates for the four Ward Council positions that are open.  It is always gratifying to see how many residents are willing to commit to the time and effort required to serve.  Over the past 1 1/2 years that I have been on Golden City Council, it has been wonderful to be able to interview so many involved citizens for positions on the various Boards and Commissions!  Many times, it has been a difficult choice for Mayor Baroch and the Councilors to choose from the many qualified candidates.

My challenge to the Citizens of Golden is :  GET TO KNOW THE CANDIDATES FOR YOUR WARD AND DECIDE WHO WILL BEST REPRESENT YOU ON COUNCIL.  KNOW THE ISSUES AND FIND OUT HOW THE CANDIDATES FEEL ON CERTAIN ITEMS OF IMPORTANCE.  HOW HAS THE CANDIDATE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY?

My challenge to the Candidates for City Council of Golden is : BE PART OF THE AUDIENCE EVERY THURSDAY EVENING FOR ALL STUDY SESSIONS AND COUNCIL MEETINGS.  ATTEND AT LEAST ONE OF EVERY BOARD AND COMMISSION IN THE CITY.  KNOW THE ISSUES.  RESEARCH THE PROBLEMS.  LOOK AT THE SOLUTIONS.  BE VISIBLE.  THE ELECTED FOUR WARD COUNCILORS WILL HAVE A BETTER GRASP OF THE ONGOING ISSUES AND THE TIME COMMITTMENT REQUIRED IF THEY START EARLY!  MANY OF THE ISSUES HAVE A 'HISTORY', AND YOU WILL BE AHEAD OF THE GAME IF YOU GET SOME OF THAT 'HISTORY' DOWN BEFORE TAKING OFFICE. 

Golden is a wonderful place to live, work, play, and shop.  We have maintained fiscal responsibility and provided a desirable community, respected by our neighbors.  Be sure that the elected officials you select are dedicated to the preservation of the good life we have!
