Responsibilities of the City Clerk's Office

City Council Recording Secretary
The City Clerk's Office is responsible for preparing City Council agendas, recording all City Council meetings and the preparation and retention of official City Council minutes, ordinances and resolutions.

Election Administration
The City Clerk coordinates and administers all City regular elections and special elections. In addition, citizen initiated recalls, initiatives and referendums are submitted to the City Clerk and verified for sufficiency. Special elections are scheduled and held as necessary.

Records Manager
The City Clerk maintains the official files for the City and is the Records Manager. The Clerk's Office is responsible for researching and providing copies of official actions of the City at the request of citizens and other City departments. This includes the records of the Golden Cemetery.

Municipal Code
The City Code is maintained by the City Clerk's Office and is updated quarterly through codification supplements.

Licensing
The City Clerk's Office licenses and regulates holders of liquor, special event liquor or beer permits, amusement arcades, centers and devices, trash haulers, pawnbrokers and handbill distribution.

Public Notification
The City Clerk is responsible for the timely publishing and, when required, posting of all legal notices in the City's official newspaper, including first and second reading of ordinances.
